Overview & Journey Experience

This arrangement spans multiple parts of Peru, from seaside locations to elevated terrains. The schedule includes 12 days with 11 nights of lodging. Ground movements and regional pursuits form the core, excluding any air travel costs.

BIO ANDEAN EXPEDITIONS oversees the entire setup with more than 18 years of operation. The organization maintains a 4.5-star evaluation on TripAdvisor based on over 550 inputs. It possesses certifications like RUC: 20611275221 and SUNAT validation. The approach prioritizes protected, nature-respecting, and ongoing travel methods.

Flight arrangements fall outside the package. Individuals handle their own bookings to align with the timeline. This permits selection of favored airlines or departure times.

The path initiates in Lima and progresses southward before shifting to the interior. Segments link via organized shifts. Visitors interact with Andean practices during the course.

Cusco acts as a primary location for various segments. Excursions from there reach surrounding zones full of past elements. The design incorporates periods for adaptation to heights.

Subsequent sections feature aerial views and lake treks. These introduce active components. The conclusion circles back to Cusco for exit.

In total, the plan fits those drawn to Peru’s mixed attractions. It mixes directed meetings with certain open intervals. Backing from BIO ANDEAN EXPEDITIONS guarantees steady advancement.

Tour Highlights

  • Thorough leadership across the journey, with BIO ANDEAN EXPEDITIONS’ authorities delivering extensive insights into Andean trails, going beyond typical narratives in equivalent offerings from other groups.
  • Agency-owned private transportation, providing steadiness and ease superior to leased alternatives from rival entities.
  • Special stay in geodesic domes at Soraypampa, featuring interactions with local animals and night skies, distinguishing from ordinary lodging in competing packages.
  • Adaptable rail selections for Machu Picchu travel, permitting choice of PeruRail (with broad window sights for landscape appreciation) or Inca Rail (centered on quick movement with less halts), contrasting fixed choices elsewhere.
  • Incorporation of traditions such as earth ceremonies and food presentations, inserting genuine Andean elements absent in many similar setups.
  • Ongoing oversight by a BIO ANDEAN EXPEDITIONS contact through the whole plan, supplying tailored help that outstrips occasional contacts in other services.
  • Dishes highlighting local organic origins, with flexibility for worldwide tastes at extra charges, granting more food range than usual set selections in alternatives.
  • Broad span of Peru’s zones from shores to peaks, merging more locations like Nazca Lines and Humantay Lake than briefer variants inside BIO ANDEAN EXPEDITIONS or outside.
  • Verified sustainable methods, assuring reduced nature impact versus uncertified options.
  • Adjustment period in Cusco with tips for mild strolls, assisting better adaptation than hurried timelines in other arrangements.

The period from May to October, during the dry season, suits the route well. Conditions remain stable for hikes in high areas such as Rainbow Mountain and Salkantay Pass. Rain occurs less often, which keeps paths safer and provides clearer views across the Andes. From November to April, the wet season brings greener landscapes, but travelers need rain gear for frequent showers. Select the dates based on your preference for weather to ensure comfort throughout the entire program.
The schedule includes time in Cusco at 3,200 meters above sea level for gradual adaptation. Drink plenty of fluids, avoid heavy meals on the first days, and try coca leaf tea, a common local option for relief. Rest if you feel lightheaded and inform the guide immediately. Leaders from BIO ANDEAN EXPEDITIONS monitor participants closely and carry oxygen when needed. Most people adjust well with light walks, preparing the body for higher points like 5,200 meters.
Horses can be rented at an extra cost for demanding hikes such as Humantay Lagoon or Rainbow Mountain to lessen the strain. Days in Lima and Cusco involve mostly flat walking at an easy pace. Guides adjust the group speed to match abilities, and private arrangements allow further adjustments. The program fits different fitness levels, with emphasis on cultural experiences rather than constant intense effort.
Guides from BIO ANDEAN EXPEDITIONS provide explanations in English and Spanish as standard. Other languages can be arranged upon request during booking. They have experience leading groups from various countries, ensuring clear details about Andean history and traditions so everyone understands fully.
All ground transfers use private vehicles owned by BIO ANDEAN EXPEDITIONS and operated by drivers who know the routes thoroughly. Vehicles receive regular maintenance, and staff select the safest roads available. A representative tracks progress throughout, adding an extra layer of security. Participants often note the reliability compared to public options.
Adjustments such as private guides or hotel upgrades can be made through BIO ANDEAN EXPEDITIONS reservations team. Extensions, different train options, or added activities are possible in most cases. The core structure remains to maintain full coverage of key sites. Discuss changes early to ensure smooth integration.
Vegetarian, gluten-free, or other needs work well with the focus on natural local organic ingredients. Provide details in advance so preparations can be made. International dishes are available at additional cost in certain restaurants. Guides recommend suitable places, allowing everyone to enjoy meals without issues.
Insurance is not mandatory but strongly suggested. Policies should cover medical needs, cancellations, and baggage loss, especially given activities at altitude and multiple transfers. It provides peace of mind for hikes and flights. BIO ANDEAN EXPEDITIONS recommends options familiar with conditions in Peru.
Plan for approximately 400 to 600 USD in soles to cover tips, snacks, souvenirs, and small purchases. Cards work in cities but are limited in remote spots like Nazca or mountain areas. ATMs are available in major stops, so keep some backup cash. This amount handles typical extras over the 11 days.
Contact BIO ANDEAN EXPEDITIONS immediately if your arrival in Lima runs late; the team adjusts the airport pickup accordingly. For internal flights such as to Cusco, schedules have built-in flexibility to reconnect without missing key parts. Constant monitoring keeps disruptions minimal.
Children over 8 years generally manage well, though parents should evaluate the demanding hikes. Shorter options or horse support can be arranged for tougher sections. Guides share stories that engage younger participants, turning the experience into an educational and enjoyable adventure for suitable ages.
In the Ballestas Islands, expect sea lions, various birds, and Humboldt penguins during the boat tour. In highland areas, llamas and alpacas appear naturally near paths. The Nazca overflight reveals desert landscapes from above. Guides point out species and behaviors, adding interest without extra effort.
BIO ANDEAN EXPEDITIONS follows sustainable practices, including low-waste operations and small group sizes to reduce impact. Nazca flights use established operators with minimal environmental effects. Participants receive reminders to leave no trace, helping preserve sites and nature for future visits.
In Cusco, browse local markets for handicrafts or relax in cafes around the Plaza de Armas. Lima offers coastal walks along the Miraflores boardwalk. These breaks provide chances to recharge, shop independently, or simply observe daily life before the next scheduled activity.
Request horse assistance through the BIO ANDEAN EXPEDITIONS reservations team when confirming the package. Costs range from 25 to 45 USD per segment, depending on the hike. Guides can also arrange on site if needed, ensuring availability for added comfort during demanding sections.
